where civilization has progressed. The inscriptions at this site reveal the lifestyle of the tribals who lived here long before the expansion of the Aryans into the Indian subcontinent of Asia. Initially, Chola dominance was observed when Tamil Nadu had good trade relations with many South Asian countries, especially China. Cholas were an obstacle to the Maurya invasion. This period lasts till 3 BC. After that, the Guptas and Chalukyas gained the upper hand. He was the diplomatic dictator of Chalukya Pulikesi II. At that time, architectural beauty was a dream. But the Pallavas made it a reality in the beginning of the fourth century. His prominence can be seen in temples like Mahabalipuram in Chennai and Rockfort Temple in Trichy. The Cholas of Thanjavur re-entered the region in the 9th century and built several important temples. Prominent examples are the Brihadeshwara temple built by Rajaraja Chola at Thanjavur and the Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple built by his son Rajendra Chola. The Chola dynasty ended in the 14th century and was followed by the rise of the Panja dynasty. However, the Pandyas were able to avoid an encounter with the Mughal emperor. Ultimately he drowned. However, the Mughals became more prominent after the emergence of the Vijayanagara Empire. From 1602 AD they started ruling their respective areas separately. Then the Portuguese invaded and ruled for many years. The Portuguese, French, Dutch and the British tried to conquer the region and the entire country, but it was the British who ruled the country for more than three centuries until independence. Origin and development of Srirangam The vimana of Srirangam temple originally emerged from 'Palakdal' by the power of Brahma and his claim. Ramavatar, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was worshiped on this plane. However, as a symbol of love, he gifted this aircraft to Vibhishana (Ravana's brother). The condition is that it should not be kept on earth. When he was traveling to Sri Lanka in this plane, Lord Vinayaka played a trick due to which the plane remained in the area situated on the banks of river Kaveri, which is now called Srirangam. Later, the Chola kings namely Dharmavaracholan and Kirivavan expanded this temple into a larger temple which can be seen even today. He laid the basic foundations and major buildings. Srirangam Temple is situated between the Kaveri and Kollidam rivers at 10° 52° North latitude and 78° 43° East longitude. There are seven walls around this temple called Saptaprakram.
